Sources from the Republican Era put his age at over 200 years, although this is not proven beyond doubt, what is widely accepted is that he was well over 100 years old at the time of his death, (A professor from Chengdu University found official records from the Qing government which corroborate this.) it is also known that he remained very healthy and active right up until the final day of his life, this is all attested by General Yan Sen of the Republican Army who was one of his students and who lived with Li Ching Yuen in his final years.
Li had multiple wives and many offspring, there is a large clan in Sichuan Province today that are directly descended from him, they practice Li’s version of Baguazhang and were renowned as bodyguards.
When asked for the secret of a long and healthy life Li Ching Yuen said ‘Keep a still mind, sit like a tortoise, walk like a pigeon and sleep like a dog’
