Li Ching Yuen is widely thought to have been the longest lived man of recent history, Li was born in Sichuan Province in China and lived most of his life at high altitude, he was trained as a herbalist in the Chinese medical tradition from a young age and travelled all over China and South East Asia collecting wild herbs, which he would sell to make his living, he is also known to have practiced a form of Qigong and the martial art of Baguazhang, as is common to almost all centenarians Li is said to have eaten very little and lived mostly off the wild herbs he collected. Among his favourite herbs which he consumed everyday, where Panax Ginseng, Ganoderma, Polygonum Multiflorum, Lycium and Gotu Kola. (Our Ultimate Adaption formula is based on Li Ching Yuen’s favourite herbs.)

Sources from the Republican Era put his age at over 200 years, although this is not proven beyond doubt, what is widely accepted is that he was well over 100 years old at the time of his death, (A professor from Chengdu University found official records from the Qing government which corroborate this.) it is also known that he remained very healthy and active right up until the final day of his life, this is all attested by General Yan Sen of the Republican Army who was one of his students and who lived with Li Ching Yuen in his final years.

Li had multiple wives and many offspring, there is a large clan in Sichuan Province today that are directly descended from him, they practice Li’s version of Baguazhang and were renowned as bodyguards.

When asked for the secret of a long and healthy life Li Ching Yuen said ‘Keep a still mind, sit like a tortoise, walk like a pigeon and sleep like a dog’
